Becoming the Missional Church
An Intentional 18-Month Journey

January 2010 - June 2011 Bay Area Cohort
Sponsored by The Renewal Project

We are looking for a select number of pastors in the Greater SF Bay Area, currently serving healthy congregations, who have a dream and the intention of taking their church in a strong missional direction. We want to invite you to consider joining a highly motivated cohort of pastors with a similar passion for leading this transition. We will journey together toward this vision --- respecting the unique context, gifting and personality of each community and participant.

We will begin with a three-part conference in early 2010, featuring author and pioneering pastor Michael Frost from Australia, expert on all things missional, and Mike Breen, formerly pastor at St. Thomas. Church in Sheffield England. This series will launch our adventure and send us into the most severe and exhilarating challenge imaginable --- the transformation of the traditional church.

If this kind of adventurous and disciplined involvement interests you, please fill out the application to participate. We believe this is a timely and unprecedented opportunity.

The Most Frequently Asked Question
What is a Missional Church?

A Missional Church is simply a church that decides it will organize itself around the priority of Mission --- defined as reaching out with genuine concern and compassion, in the name of Jesus, to people in need outside of the church. The Missional Church recognizes all the church.s dimensions and believes that beginning with Mission --- orienting ourselves to the Mission of God --- will strengthen our experience of Worship, Discipleship and Fellowship. Start with Mission . and you get the rest. Delay doing it, and you may never get to it at all. Or it will become only an occasion rather than a focus, and remain the obscure obsession of a few. The Missional Church practices what almost every church claims it is or wants to be. Releasing its members to make an impact for the Kingdom of God where they live ... and beyond.

Conference Theme
Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." John 20:21 [4.20.21]
